HELP STUDENT AND FAMILY AGREEMENT ____________________________________________________________________
STUDENTS RESPONSIBILITIES:
Students attend English classes Monday to Friday 9am to 12.15pm or 3.30pm if a fulltime student. The Student will return to the house of the family at 2.45pm if they are to collect children from school. If the student is fulltime the time to arrive home is approx. 4.30pm
This programme is designed to mutually benefit the family and the student. The programme promotes a reciprocal, caring relationship between the family and the student. The students stays with a family up to 4/5 months and provide child-caring, babysitting, assists with light household duties (laundry, vacuuming, bathroom/toilet, emptying dishwashers, folding washing, ironing, ). They can prepare a basic meal something simple. In exchange they are provided with a room and food. The duties should not exceed 20 hours per week Monday to Friday although if they stay in the weekend should help out 2 hours Sat/Sun in the mornings. Otherwise weekends are free. Students must be of good caliber, trustworthy, clean and helpful to the family they stay with.
FAMILY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Student will be provided with her own bedroom and should have a small desk and lamp, bed with linen and duvet or blankets, dressing table, wardrobe, mirror and rubbish bin, electric blanket (winter) and/or a heater if the room is cold. The family must give clear instructions to the student relating to the duties they are expected to carry out. Show the student how to use a washing machine, dishwasher, vacuum cleaner and security systems. The student will not drive the family car. The family will ensure the student is provided with all meals, has access to coffee/tea and snacks at all times. If the family goes on a outing and the takes the student with them the student is expected to pay for her own food, movies, entrance fee to parks (zoo) and she is also responsible for overseas tool calls.
AIRPORT PICKUP AND TRANSPORT TO AND FROM SCHOOL:
The Host family, school or the agent of the Student is expected to collect the student from the Airport. If the Host Family wishes the Student can be collected by a designated driver or by the Agency and delivered to the house where she will stay. Whoever collects the Students must be responsible to show her where the school is located, how to use the nearest bus/train transport system to and from school. The Student will obtain a bus concession pass from the school a bus timetable and a local street map and contact details of the family she is staying with.
PROBLEMS:
Should a problem arise - please contact the school councilor or the student''s agent or the Agency. The schools and the students agents and agency cannot be held responsible for monies owing incurred by the Student nor for their behavior but they will be counseled by the school or agent .
NOTICE:
STUDENT/HELP RESPONSIBITIES:
- Must have good health and provide a medical certificate
- Must not smoke in or around the property of the family
- If you have a special diet -please explain what you cannot eat
- If you do not want to stay with a family who have pets indicate what pets
- Must not consume alcohol on the family premises
- If you require to observe religious rights please advise family
- If you want to stay with a family without children please indicate
You requirements
- Do you have special requests (e.g. piano, computer)
- Do you have special skills (swimming driving)
- What is your level of English - 1-10
- It is imperative that all Students obey all New Zealand Government and Local Laws
- Student not to impose upon the family by inviting friends or family to stay
- Student not to borrow money from their family
- Student to reimburse the family for any breakages or telephone calls
- Must keep her bedroom/bathroom clean and tidy
- Meals will be provided -breakfast, lunch and dinner
- Student must supply recommendation letter, references and Medical certificate and have a criminal free record.

Responsibilities of the Help/Student It is imperative that Students obey all New Zealand (Government and Local Laws) Abstain from the use of illegal drugs and excessive use of alcohol in and around the home of the Help family.
- Do not smoke in or around the Help family home.
- Do not impose upon the Help family by inviting friends or relatives to stay.
- Do not borrow money from the Help family.
- All Students must hold a medical certificate clearing them of all infectious diseases.
- Reimburse your family for expenses incurred during your stay - breakages, telephone calls
- Must keep bedroom/bathroom clean and tidy.
- Meals will be provided.
The other responsibilities for your exchange stay 20 hours per week Monday to Friday from approx 2.50pm to 6pm plus 2 hours Sat/Sun before 12pm. * Ensure that the children in your care are properly supervised at all times until a senior member of the family arrives home. The children must not be left on their own. * Carry out house duties the family will list - vacuuming 1 x week, laundry 3 x week, bathrooms 2 x week this is an example. * If a meal is too be prepared - make sure the mother had explained what needs to be prepared. If the children require a after school snack make sure you can do this. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT IF YOUR STUDENT IS NOT SUITABLE THAT YOU CONTACT US IMMEDIATELY AND WE WILL REPLACE HER AS SOON AS WE CAN. THE HELP/STUDENT MAKE TAKE UP TO 7 DAYS TO SETTLE IN.
